The President of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education, Prof. Pericles A. Mitkas, was invited to join a special session of the EduTech Summit & Expo 2026, held on the 5th of June, 2026, which focused on today’s challenges and future developments in Higher Education.
During an interview with the journalist Giannis Rizopoulos, Prof. Mitkas mentioned the significant breakthrough of Artificial Intelligence and its potential implications for Higher Education. He also underlined that the universities in Greece and abroad are already exploring ways to adapt, integrate and address the new emerging challenges.
Prof. Mitkas also referred to the introduction of non-state universities in the Greek academic map, which may bring significant changes to the local educational environment.
Furthermore, the President of HAHE mentioned the important steps made so far by the Greek Universities in strengthening their international outlook, as well as the initiatives taken to reinforce their engagement with the labor market.
Prof. Mitkas concluded by emphasizing the need for further strengthening university initiatives for entrepreneurship and innovation, as these efforts can bring significant added value to education, economy and society at large.
