The Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE), in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the international organization “Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)” successfully organized the forum “QS Thought Leadership Session: Global positioning and reputation of Greek Universities”, which took place on 4/6/2026 in the Ceremony Hall of NTUA campus in Zografou.
This event is a high-level national forum focusing on the international position, reputation and competitiveness of Greek Universities within the current global academic environment. Representatives of the academic community, policymakers and quality assurance professionals from HEIs took part in the discussion.
The forum was also addressed by the Rector of the National Technical University of Athens, Prof. Ioannis K. Chatzigeorgiou and Dr. Christina Besta, General Director of HAHE. Ms Besta underlined the significant progress achieved by Greek Universities in the international academic setting, as reflected in the QS rankings. She noted that this progress was a result of a broad strategy for strengthening the quality and international presence of Greek Higher Education. She also reaffirmed HAHE’s commitment to continue supporting the quality improvement of the Greek HEIs through recent quality assurance standards, which would further strengthen their global impact.
The data for the Greek Universities rankings were presented by QS Partnerships Director for Greece, Ms Eleni Bolou-Schlesinger, and QS Principal Consultant, Mr. Kesh Patel. The event concluded with an open discussion and exchange of opinions upon the challenges and opportunities for the international promotion and presence of Greek HEIs.
