The Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) and the Federation of Hellenic ICT Enterprises (SEPE) held a meeting on 9/5/2026 on the topic of “Connecting Higher Education with the Labour Market: Achievements, Good practices, Challenges and Perspectives for the Departments of Informatics and the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering”.

During this meeting, the Heads and representatives of these Departments highlighted the challenges and prospects of the academic map for Computer Science in Greece and actively contributed to a fruitful exchange of views and the formulation of important conclusions.

This event built upon a series of meetings held during 2023-2024, which focused primarily on improving graduation rates in the undergraduate programmes of the above Departments. This year’s consultation brought together the State, the academic community and SEPE with several representatives from IT companies, aiming at analysing the current situation in universities and the labour market, exchanging good practices and strengthening collaboration in addressing future challenges.

The agenda of the meeting included the following 4 topics:

  1. Presentation of data concerning ICT issues.
  2. Using AI tools in software development: Are we ready for this challenge?
  3. Connection with the Labour market: How prepared are ICT graduates to enter the labour market?
  4. Internships: Setting the grounds for a successful collaboration.

The event was honoured by the presence of the General Secretary for Higher Education, Prof. D. Bourantonis, the General Secretary for Information Systems of Public Administration, Prof. D. Anagnostopoulos and the Rector of the Harokopio University of Athens, Prof. G. Dedousis, who addressed the audience with a short speech.

The Hellenic Authority for Higher Education and the Federation of the Hellenic ICT Enterprises would like to express their gratitude to the Harokopio University of Athens for their technical support and warm hospitality.
